Paddle shop website rebuild

A complete rebuild for an outfitter that rents, teaches, and sells: rentals, lessons, tours, camps, and a shop, organized by what the visitor wants to do.

Example website / Prototype / Approved 2026-10-24

Example website. A speculative concept built to show the approach. The business name, logo, photos, and contact details are fictional placeholders. Your version would use your brand, content, colors, and the way your business works.

01The need

An outfitter’s website carries a lot: rentals at several locations, lessons, tours, camps, a shop, and seasonal hours. Visitors mostly want one answer: what can I do today, and what will it cost? This rebuild puts that question first.

For: People planning a day on the water who need to compare rentals, locations, and prices quickly, and staff who need to keep seasonal status and pricing current.

02My role

Designed and built by Zack from start to finish: information architecture across more than twenty page types, a typed content model for offerings, the rental finder, location status, every template, and the responsive build.

03The decisions

  1. Start with what you want to do

Rentals, lessons, tours, camps, and shop are five large doors directly under the hero, each with one sentence and one action. Location status with seasonal closures sits just below, because that answer changes the rest of the visit.

Example outfitter homepage: hero with three actions, location status bar, and five activity cards
  2. A rental finder instead of a price list

Offerings are structured data, so the rentals page filters by activity, location, and length, hides seasonal items by default, and shows published base prices with the unconfirmed extras clearly marked.

Example rentals page with activity, location, and length filters and comparable offering cards
  3. Honest status, not a static page

Hours, closures, and prices carry a reviewed date and an unconfirmed flag where the source is unclear, so staff can see what needs checking and visitors are never promised something stale.

04Current state

A complete multi-page prototype running locally with a typed offerings model driving the rental finder. Content is sample data and all imagery is generic. Nothing is published or connected to a booking system.
